113 Degrees outside and we decide to visit the zoo

So we must be crazy or something. On Saturday morning we decided we would go to the zoo for a few hours, now remind you it was only 100-103 during the week which is cool, and I thought Saturday would be the same. As I am driving the kids to the zoo the guy on the radio says it is going to be a hot one, a high of 113 and then I thought okay this trip won't last long.

We get to the zoo and Cameron thinks it is a good idea to take our Safari Wagon instead of the stroller and I agreed, but once we got there and I had to pull around70 pounds I was starting to think that this is not a smart idea.

As we set off on our way to visit the animals we were beginning to think our zoo trip was a bad idea. This is the first time I have ever been to the zoo and not see a single animal, no zebras, elephants, bears, monkeys, wolves, even the birds were tucked away up in their trees. It was like a ghost town.

Cameron pondering about where the animals have gone

After we ate lunch I said this is enough walking around in the heat and decided to let the kids play in the water. They have a little splash park at the zoo, which the kids have never played in before. So we headed our way over there, and the kids stripped down (no swimsuits) and off they played. They played for a little over an hour and had a great time.

After that little adventure, I promised Cameron a sno cone so we headed up a huge hill to get the sno cone, and come to find out the place wasn't open. Here we are dying of a heat stroke and I asked the guy where we can buy a sno cone and he says we moved them up in the front by the entrance, just where we came from. Off we trucked to the entrance to get our sno cones. This hit the spot and Morgan even enjoyed her first taste of a sno cone. Cameron and I always get Cherry Sno Cones when we come to the zoo, it is our little tradition.

Morgan got a little upset when the sno cone was all gone!!
